How this brain is wired

The site is a brain built like an engine room. Here's how to feed it a new thought.

This site doesn’t have categories or tags. It has lobes, pressure and synapses. Every post you write becomes a brass gauge on the brain on the homepage, filed in its lobe and piped to the thoughts it relates to.

Writing a thought

Drop a Markdown file into src/content/blog/. The filename becomes the URL and the id. The frontmatter is the wiring:

---
title: "The thing I'm mad about"
description: "One line. Shows on cards and in search results."
pubDate: 2026-11-01
lobe: rant # rant | build | idea | memory
heat: 4 # 1 (zen) → 5 (hopping mad). Sets the gauge needle.
synapses: ["how-this-brain-is-wired"] # ids of related posts
draft: false
---

What each field does

  • lobe picks the chamber of the brain the gauge sits in, and the sticker on its card: RNT, BLD, IDA or MEM.
  • heat fills the pressure bars and sets the needle on the gauge. Anything at 4 or above gets a sprayed HOT stencil.
  • synapses draw brass pipes between gauges on the map and fill the “Synapses” block under the post. Links work in both directions, so you only need to add them on one side.
  • draft: true keeps the thought in your head and off the site.

The pressure gauge in the header changes how hard everything runs.

Turn it up and watch what happens.
